Tolman was praised for her role as Minnesota the Police officer Molly Solverson. Vanity Fair stated that Tolman "calmly, assuredly stole" the film. Critics' Choice Television Award, Best Supporting Actress (Movie/Miniseries) as well as Golden Globe nominated were announced to Tolman for her performance. Tolman was also a guest spot on The Mindy Show as Abby Berman a romance writer. She had a role as a supporter in Michael Dougherty's thriller Krampus.
